For those who know us well, you know that we are avid sports fans. But you also would not be surprised to hear that we believe today's reaction to Jim Joyce's blown call is being blown way out of proportion. Here is an umpire who has been one of the best in the game for 20 years. He made a bad call, and, yes, admittedly, the call affected the record books for one young ball player. But, the call did not change the outcome of the game. It should not result in major changes to the way baseball is played or umpired. And perhaps most importantly, this mistake was one of the few examples in recent history where we get to see a somewhat public official OWN UP TO HIS MISTAKE. What a stand up guy. When was the last time we saw a politician say I blew that one? When was the last time we saw a banker say I gave that guy a corrupt loan? Mistakes happen daily in our society. But we, for three, think Jim Joyce handled this one well.
But now for the most exciting reason for this post. (We know you are excited to see us back and blogging again, and we appreciate it.) Here is one of the best reactions you will ever see to the end of last night's near-perfect game. A West Virginia man wearing short shorts and dipping watches the end of the game with his young children. For your viewing pleasure, we present hilarity:
